I've been waiting for the Logitech MX Ergo Wireless Trackball Mouse device for well over a decade - a Bluetooth version of Logitech's fabled TrackMan Marble Wheel. And this is, indeed, a really nice trackball for use with new laptops that don't have USB-A ports, such as the MacBook/MacBook Pro. I'm torn whether to give it four stars or five - it's borderline, and if I could give 4.5, I would.
I decided to round up. (And I've gone back and forth several times while writing this review.)The trackball functionality is exactly as you'd expect if you used the M570, with a few extra features - a tiltable scroll wheel, the 'precision' button to allow fine control, and the ability to switch between two devices. The AA battery has been replaced by li-poly and recharges via micro-USB.
The form factor is where things get a little weird. The bottom of the trackball has a 20-degree bend in the middle and magnets on either side. It ships with a 2mm-thick metal plate that can magnetically attach to either side to cause the tilt. The result feels much more stable than you'd expect, and while you can deliberately tilt it, it's not generally going to accidentally tilt when you aren't expecting it.
I find the tilt feels really good, actually - I hadn't expected it to. The downside of this is that it increases the weight by over 1/3, to over 9 ounces. The device is overall about 4 ounces heavier than the M570. You can use it without the metal plate, but it feels extremely wobbly in that state and will fall to 'flat' rather than tilted unless propped up.
The only other problem is that there is no space inside to keep the unifying receiver. No problem for me because I want the Logitech MX Ergo Wireless Trackball Mouse for Bluetooth, but that can be a problem for someone. I bought the MX Ergo Plus directly from Logitech - the difference is the plus ships with extra plastic wedges that can add a further 10-degree tilt.
If that sounds useful to you, my understanding is that the Plus is exclusive to Logitech and Best Buy. I like this so much, I have one for my work PC, one for my laptop, and one for my home PC. Too bad they don't make this in a silent version (Most mice make the click noise when you click a button, but there is like one or two on the market that advertise being silent - I tried one that is quiet but had connection issues.).
However, the ability to connect to my laptop with Bluetooth and not need to have the dongle sticking out the side is nice. The ergonomics are very nice, especially with the adjustable base. So, I searched for alternatives and settled on sticking with Logitech with the MX Ergo. The first impression - I dig it. It is just enough larger to fit my hand perfectly.
After some updating of software, it synced with Bluetooth and I was off to the races. The scroll wheel, with the side-scrolling feature, is great and smooth. The buttons are perfectly placed and give a responsive audible "click" sound, which I like. The Logitech MX Ergo Wireless Trackball Mouse seems to be smoother than the M570, but that could be due to age (yes, I did regularly clean the ball and contact points on the 570 so that was not it).

Product Update:
If you have a limited number of USB ports, the Logitech MX Ergo Wireless Trackball Mouse is fantastic. I have a Surface Pro 2017 that only has 1 USB port. So when I don't need the port, I have the dongle installed. When I need to use a flash drive or device, I switch the trackball to Bluetooth mode and keep going. It has a precision switch so that you can get every minute of movements. This was important for Lightroom and Photoshop. Its parts are rated for a longer life expectancy.
