Been using the Logitech m570 on my right-hand standard Logitech wireless mouse on my left hand for years. It's helped a lot with wrist pain.
Finally decided to try this ELECOM Thumb Operated Wireless Trackball Mouse left-handed trackball as it doesn't seem like Logitech has any intention of making a left-handed m570. Might get the right-handed Elecom eventually as well.If I understand you correctly. The mouse itself is stationary. This is a trackball mouse. The sole use of this is spinning the ball to move the cursor. I am unsure of any hybrid mice with the features you describe though it made me wonder myself.
You can always keep a regular one plugged in next to it. I switched to a very similar logitechM570, a right-handed model, and the carpal tunnel went away within a few weeks without any need to switch to the left. It's been 4-5 years and I've never had to deal with carpal tunnel since. So in my personal experience, there's no need to switch to a left-handed model. :-) I'm looking at this one for the extra buttons.
ELECOM Thumb Operated Wireless Trackball Mouse is the way to go and now I have one on my left and use one on my right. There aren't many good options for the left and I like it because I don't have to switch my "mouse settings" to Windows because it's already mapped to standard use, but vice versa (you don't have to set it for the first click of the left hand on your index finger Must do) so that I can fly this trackball and the other.

This is what others are calling a left-handed M570. Installed on Windows 10, no drivers other than the ones Win10 decided to grab from ELECOM Thumb Operated Wireless Trackball Mouse repository. Works great this way. A bit sensitive for my tastes, but turning that down made it manageable. I apparently bought mine from a US seller, as the shipping was fast.
I see now that the delivery date is somewhere in July. I can't think of any issues I have had with it, it acts like any other trackball I have owned. If you spin it too fast, it loses its place and stops the cursor from traveling across the screen. Pros: A $%^&ing left-handed trackball! It could be made out of the mud and I would be happy!
Cons: Wireless, I would rather it be wired. It isn't going anywhere, and I can deal with a single wire. But I can't fault the company for this. If you had to make one, a wireless one would sell more products. Update Aug 25th, 2016: Still going strong (on first battery) It has disconnected a couple of times but came right back. I can't fault the device though, the laptop it is plugged into isn't always the most stable.
I installed the ELECOM drivers today, they seem to be fine, nothing different about them other than I now have control over more of the buttons. The M570 just quit working one day. Something I've noticed about Logitech mice and the Logitech keyboard and trackpad combo; The connection to the USB dongle is spotty at best, even when it's 1 foot from each other and new batteries. The Marble was a hand me down. There was a spot (chip) that would constantly snag.
Just last week I used a piece of sandpaper to smooth the ELECOM Thumb Operated Wireless Trackball Mouse, but as a result, the surface has become rough and the Trackball Mouse will not slide efficiently but it is a bit better than when it was. MX Ergo is sitting at my desk unused because I've been in WFH since March because of Kovid-1.
So instead of going down there to retrieve it, I ordered this trackball mouse and I'm very happy with it. Ironically enough, it's a Japanese-designed mouse, not Chinese. It flows very smoothly and it's quite responsive. I actually have it set to the lowest mouse scroll setting and it's still quite fast. It's still fast when you flip the switch to precision.
Unchecking the Enhance Pointer Precision box in the Mouse Properties speeds up the mouse very fast. Wish there was an actual driver to dial in the settings vs using the WIndows mouse properties. Other than that, I'm happy with this purchase and highly recommend it. I haven't had an issue with wireless connectivity, either.

Product Update:
Only one mouse at a time can seem to take advantage of the software button programming. ELECOM Thumb Operated Wireless Trackball Mouse great software incredibly handy, but whichever one is "turned off" goes back to the standard browser forward browser back functions. Got it for my wife who users her mouse 8 hrs a day. She's right-handed and had no trouble adapting. Her carpel tunnel is still aching but I expect it will improve with time.
