Elecom M MT2DRSBK reviews the expected range of transmission. If you use this mouse, you will understand all its benefits.
Bluetooth has an expected range of 5-10 feet, while wireless can reach up to 150 feet or more depending on the strength of the transmitters. As far as wireless mice, you will probably get a 20-25 foot range as an estimate while again, a Bluetooth mouse will only reach the 5-10 foot range. These are just approximate, however, as it all depends on the environment and transmitter strength.
I can sometimes connect to my Bluetooth speakers from a room and a half away, so it is very dependent on the environment. The Bluetooth version relies on your computer's Bluetooth transceiver, if it has one, to communicate your input. The wireless version is supplied with a 2.4 GHz USB transceiver (dongle) that it communicates exclusively with.
Note: if you can navigate your computer's BIOS with an Elecom M MT2DRSBK Trackball Mouse, I would recommend the wireless version as Bluetooth drivers usually load after the Operating System is started (when you see the login or start screen). The Wi-Fi-only model requires a small USB dongle. People that like Apple laptops have to use an adapter for the USB-C which is troublesome.

Love how this fits in the palm of my hand. Brought two for the office and home. I get tennis elbow so this allows me to keep my arm in place and only use my fingers to get things done. I really like how the functions are put on the left and the scroll function is the best I've had on these style mouses. If you have small hands I highly recommend this for comfort and fit.
Functions are great. The mouse is travel size. I have small hands so it works perfectly for me. All functions work and I have no complaints. It took me a while to get used to the right click on the top right of the mouse rather than the side like the Kensington. I have had two Kensingtons and both died within 13 months (warranty is 12 months) The true test for this trackball is whether it lasts longer than 13 months; then the Elecom is worth the higher cost.
This Elecom M MT2DRSBK Trackball Mouse is small which is great because I need portability. It’s the size of a “normal” rat and I have a relatively large hand and it took a small amount to get used to but now it feels very big compared to other rats. I was amazed at the smoothness and accuracy of the trackball movement. Easy to get the ball out and clean as well. Also, the quality is amazing !!!
I have small hands for an adult male and the compact size fits well. Plus it has a hard shell case that keeps the mouse safe and clean during travel. Easy to open with a zipper to give 180-degree access and it has a nice snug custom seat for the trackball mouse so it doesn't move around while traveling too! I am 100% satisfied! Don’t hesitate to purchase!!! This mouse paired up routinely.
I am happy with the ergonomic design and functionality this mouse provides. Very small, so it will be a good travel mouse, although the carrying case is slightly large, it is well made. DPI adjustment is good. Very quiet operation of the buttons and wheel. I need this mouse to relieve shoulder issues from using a standard mouse. Very happy so far. I love this thing - I bought a few of them.
I use them with my laptop so I don't need to use the trackpad and they are wonderful. The Bluetooth connection is solid, button placement on the device works great for me and the clicks are firm. Windows "discovered' this fine and like the other Elecom trackballs I have purchased, this is a great product for me. So happy they make them - good trackballs are so hard to find. The only competition in this space is Nakabayashi Co, Ltd. Digio2 Bluetooth Wireless Trackball.

Update:
The most important choice is, operated by index finger or thumb. Since my desktop trackball is a Logitech Trackman Marble Trackball Mouse, I am partial to this Elecom. Likewise, if your thumb is preferred, there is no compact alternative to the Digio 2. Both use the same diameter trackball. They probably share most of the internals. The most significant difference is that Elecom M MT2DRSBK Trackball Mouse chose to support only Bluetooth Low Energy, which makes possible a single AAA cell.
