Get Product Review:

Finally, I've found what's essentially an ELECOM Left-Handed Thumb-Operated Trackball Mouse. In fact, as long as the product holds up over extensive use. It's got horizontal scroll buttons that can be remapped via the software, it's got a low/high DPI switch, a slow/fast mouse movement switch, and even an extra button on the far-left that is activated with your ring finger.

The ergonomics are a little off compared to the M570, but I'm sure I'll get used to them. The ball movement isn't as fluid as the M570's, but I'm sure that will improve as I wear it in. Also, contrary to the other review, the Mouse Assistant software is in English. And it's got most of the options you'd want. The Marble was a hand me down. There was a spot (chip) that would constantly snag.

Just last week I used a piece of sandpaper to smooth it out, but in doing so, made the surface rough and the ELECOM Left-Handed Thumb-Operated Trackball Mouse wouldn't glide as efficiently but was slightly better than when it had a divot. The MX Ergo is sitting on my desk at work, unused, as I've been WFH since March due to Covid-19. So instead of going down there to retrieve it, I ordered this trackball mouse and I'm very happy with it.

Ironically enough, it's a Japanese-designed mouse, not Chinese. It flows very smoothly and it's quite responsive. I actually have it set to the lowest mouse scroll setting and it's still quite fast. It's still fast when you flip the switch to precision. Unchecking the Enhance Pointer Precision box in the Mouse Properties speeds up the mouse very fast. Wish there was an actual driver to dial in the settings vs using the WIndows mouse properties.

Other than that, I'm happy with this purchase and highly recommend it. I haven't had an issue with wireless connectivity, either. I found I could use my computer but really missed the layout of the M570. I came across this Elecom which is nearly identical to the M570 but in a left-hand configuration. I was very surprised at how quickly I switched from the right hand to the left hand and after a week I was just as fast with it in my left hand.

My arm/shoulder got progressively better but I decided to just keep using the left-hand trackball anyway. The software is fairly easy to find online, you'll need to get it there because it doesn't ship with the mouse. The instructions are all in Japanese, but they're unnecessary as the driver and software are available in English and are all you need. It's very easy to change what any button does via the software which, though looking a little dubious on installation, works nicely and is intuitive.

The ELECOM Left-Handed Thumb-operated Trackball Mouse itself was very quick to learn to use, and the ball is smooth and accurate. The scroll function works well, the roller is perhaps a little stiff, but I expect it will break in nicely. I can't comment on battery life, as it hasn't exhausted the first one yet. All in all, it looks, feels, and works like a fairly expensive mouse should. I will buy another for my office.
